The Philippine Commission on Elections COMELEC estimated that 85 percent of the possible 50 million voters turned out to vote. There were a total of 80,000 machines used during the polling and only 400 malfunctioned. Many voters complained about the waiting in long lines but COMELEC kept the precincts open and extra hour to accommodate large crowds.
